The manufacturer will close its production activities at the Baia Mare plant as a result of losing contracts on the foreign market, accordin to the local authorities. The company will fire 194 workers, including administrative staff. 

TRW Automotive opened the factory in Baia Mare in 2013, where it produced steering wheels for Volkswagen, Fiat and Ford. The company also owns production units in Timisoara, Roman, Oravita, Lupeni and Marghita. The company registered a turnover in Romania of more than EUR 260 million, with a number of employees of almost 3,000 in 2016.
