June was the best month for car sales in the past six years, with more than 12,250 units sold, according to the Romanian Car Manufacturers and Importers Association – APIA.

 

Companies continue to support the new vehicle sales in Romania, with more than three-quarters (77%) of the total units sold in the first six months. New passenger car sales went up by 16.2% in the first six months of 2015, to over 45,600 units.

 

Romanian brand Dacia had a 37% share of the total sales (over 17,000 units), followed by Volkswagen (4.355 units), Skoda (4.056 units), Renault (2.878 units), and Ford (2.790 units). Dacia’s Logan, Duster and Sandero were the top three best-selling models, followed by Skoda Octavia.

 

On the commercial vehicles segment, sales went up by almost 30% in the first six months, reaching 9,150 units. Dacia, Ford and Opel had the highest sales of light commercial vehicles while Volvo, Mercedes and MAN topped the heavy truck segment.

 

The used car imports have also increased in the first six months, by about 14%. For each new car sold in the first six months 3.3 used cars were imported. (source: Romania-insider.com)
