The project is part of the company’s strategic shift to focus on air and heating technology, in line with its “local for local” approach. EBM Papst’s new facility will strengthen its research, development, and production capabilities in Europe.

This marks the company’s second major investment in Oradea. The first factory, opened in 2017 in Industrial Park I, produces 170 types of electric motors and fans for various industries including medical and automotive.

EBM Papst currently employs around 500 people in Romania and aims to grow this to 1,000 employees by 2030, including 750 in production and 250 in R&D and services. The group has also acquired 5.5 hectares of land for the new plant and begun research operations at the local Science and Technology Park.

Local officials, including Oradea’s mayor and the interim president of Bihor County Council, praised the investment for its potential to create higher-quality jobs and boost local economic growth, helping to reduce outward migration.

Globally, EBM Papst employs 13,800 people, operates 27 production facilities (including in the US and China), and has 49 sales offices. In fiscal year 2023–2024, the group recorded €2.4 billion in revenue.
