The main sources of the positive evolution consisted of the growth of exports, the results registered by the automotive, agriculture and fashion sectors, and the launch of new premium transport services such as On Board Courier or Full Charter.

“2015 was an important year for the maturing of the local economy, with visible effects in what concerns the dynamic of imports and in particular of exports. The market demands ever growing flexibility, such as maritime consolidation services where we have the best expertise, but also premium services such as On Board Courier, which entails a type of 24-hour transit from anywhere in the world,” IB Cargo Managing Partner Catalin Putineanu stated.

With a portfolio of over 2,000 clients, IB Cargo ensured the import of almost 46,000 tons of freight and the export of almost 17,000 tons in 2015. At national level, almost 500,000 tons of freight were transported through IB Cargo solutions in 2015.

IB Cargo Managing Partner Catalin Putineanu claims that the Romanian retail’s continuous process of maturing will represent an important source of growth for transporters in 2016:

“The retail market, particularly the online retail market, will influence the dynamic of imports through two major phenomena. Local retailers tend to stake on smaller stocks and more frequent imports in order to lower storage costs but also to have flexibility in what concerns their commercial offer. Likewise, the growth registered by retailers in the fashion and home&deco areas will lead to a high volume turnover that allows direct import from Asian producers. Before 2015, many resorted to imports from European Union resellers.” (source: nineoclock.ro)
