The retailer has in Moldova region nearly a quarter of its 100 stores and it plans to open six units in Chişinău, the capital city of Moldova Republic.

 

Kaufland didn’t disclose the area or investment of the new warehouse, but according to ZF data, the investment of a similar warehouse to those owned by the company in Romania exceeds EUR 20 million.

 

Kaufland currently has two warehouses – in Ploieşti and Turda – owned by the retailer. Kaufland is the local leader of food retailer and of logistics area owned (19 hectares) and is followed by the “sister” network Lidl, with 12 hectares in three warehouses. This network is also developing a new warehouse of 4.5 hectares in western Romania, an investment of EUR 20 million.

 

The players in modern retail have in plan investments of a few dozen of millions Euros in the following period in order to expand their logistics capacity with nearly a quarter compared to the already existing 70 ha of warehouse area.  (source: zf.ro)
