Investment in Maramureș's industrial future

The Maramureș County Council (CJ) has taken a decisive step towards bolstering regional economic growth by contracting a substantial 90 million RON loan from CEC Bank. This significant investment is earmarked specifically for the development and construction of four new industrial parks strategically located across the county.

According to Gabriel Zetea, the CJ President, securing this financing, despite the associated costs, was a necessary decision to advance critical development projects for Maramureș. The loan comes with a 10% interest rate, resulting in an annual cost of 9 million RON just for interest payments.

Locations and scope of development

The four industrial parks are planned for key locations within Maramureș: Baia Sprie, Șomcuta Mare, Târgu Lăpuș, and Fărcașa. These developments aim to provide modern infrastructure and facilities for businesses looking to establish or expand operations in the region.

While initial plans envisioned a larger number of parks, these four locations represent the concrete projects moving forward. The County Council President emphasized that this development is a matter of taking responsibility and turning plans into reality.

Opportunities for businesses

The construction of these industrial parks signifies future availability of modern industrial, warehouse, and potentially office spaces in Maramureș. Businesses seeking locations for manufacturing, logistics, storage, or other commercial activities should monitor the progress of these developments.

The project involves European financing covering 40% of the total costs, with the remaining 60% being covered by the County Council through this loan. This blended financing approach underscores the commitment to realizing these infrastructure projects, which are crucial for attracting private investment and creating jobs in Maramureș.

The development of these parks is presented as a practical step to facilitate private sector growth and employment, moving beyond past unfulfilled promises towards tangible construction and economic progress.
