Of the total Romanian exports worth 13.382 billion euros, the exports of this industry represent 45.79pct, up by 1.78 percentage points from the same period of the previous year (as share in total exports). This industry ranks first also in terms of imports, with a value of over 5.747 billion euros.

 

On the next position in the classification of exports there are the products of textile and leather industry, with over 1.396 billion euros (10.43pct of total exports), up by 1.54pct compared to the same period of 2014. The following position is held by agri-food products – 1.322 billion euros (9.88pct of total exports), up by 9.9pct. Chemical products and plastics rank 4th, with a value of 1.295 billion euros, on the rise by 0.36pct from Q1 2014.

 

According to the MECT, the total value of Romania’s foreign trade in the first three months of 2015 exceeded 28.138 billion euros, higher by 5.6pct than the amount in the same period of 2014, with exports having recorded an increase to 13.382 billion euros (+4.9pct), whilst imports advanced to 14.756 billion euros (+6.3pct). In this context, Romania’s trade balance deficit rose by 22.8pct, from the level of – 1.118 billion euros (March 31, 2014) to – 1.373 billion euros (March 31, 2015). (source: nineoclock.ro)
