The imports also saw a strong annual increase of 11.6%, reaching EUR 6.17 billion, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

In November 2016, the Romanian exports exceeded the EUR 5 billion threshold for the third month in a row, after a level of EUR 5.24 billion in September and EUR 5.09 billion in October. The trade deficit amounted to EUR 865.6 million in November last year, up 10.9% compared to November 2015.

Exports increased by 4.8% year-on-year in the first eleven months of the year to EUR 53.07 billion whereas the imports rose by 6.9% to EUR 61.84 billion.
