This area has attracted higher foreign investments than in any other region in the country except for Bucharest, in the last ten years, especially due to the geographical proximity to Western Europe, according to financial consultancy firm RisCo.

 

Fuel distribution company Mol Romania, which is based in the Cluj county, had a turnover of almost EUR 1 billion last year, a net profit of EUR 21 million and 198 employees. Salaj-based Silcotub, which produces steel pipes, posted a turnover of over EUR 461 million, a net profit of almost EUR 63 million, and 1,625 employees last year.

Maramures-based electrical equipment producer Eaton Electro Productie had a EUR 223 million turnover, a EUR 5.4 million net profit, and over 2,000 employees. (source: Romania-insider.com)
