Unfortunately, only half of the 100-kilometer road between Bucharest and Giurgiu is modernized. The rest was left in disrepair after a former construction company went insolvent.

The National Roads and Highways Company (CNADNR) will pay a Romanian-Italian association RON 94.4 M (VAT included) to modernize an 11.6-kilometer section of National Road 5, between Bucharest and Adunatii Copaceni. The contract was won in open tender by the Eurogen Aninoasa Branch – Aleandri – Beozzo Construzioni – Smart Building Project association.

The total value of this contract is RON 76.1 M, VAT not included, 85 per cent of the sum representing non-reimbursable funds offered by the European Commission. The construction works are set to last one year and the road has a warranty period of two years. (source: nineoclock.ro)
