Strategic investment enhances regional logistics capacity
Cargus, a leader in the Romanian courier sector, is bolstering its national logistics network with a substantial investment exceeding €500,000. This capital infusion has facilitated the relocation and upgrade of its Drobeta-Turnu Severin logistics center into a new facility twice its original size.
Built from the ground up on a strategically located plot near the Drobeta-Turnu Severin beltway, the new 560-square-meter hub significantly boosts processing capabilities, handling up to 4,000 parcels daily – a 60% increase over previous capacity.
This investment is a cornerstone of Cargus's broader national strategy to modernize logistics infrastructure and meet the escalating demands of the e-commerce and retail sectors.
Advanced features for optimal operational efficiency
Designed for peak performance and user convenience, the new Cargus hub incorporates cutting-edge technology and features:
Eco-Friendly Docking Systems: Two truck ramps equipped with eco-friendly docking systems allow vehicles to remain parked during loading and unloading, streamlining operations.
Enhanced Sorting and Processing: An extended sorting belt and multiple loading/unloading gates for couriers significantly reduce handling times, ensuring faster parcel flow.
Modern Surveillance: State-of-art surveillance systems with mobile access provide continuous monitoring and security.
Customer-Centric Facilities: A dedicated Cargus SHIP & GO zone offers clients convenient parcel pickup and sending services, complemented by an expanded parking area for quick access for both customers and couriers.
Nelu Gheorghiță, Chief Operations Officer at Cargus, highlighted the hub's strategic importance: “This relocation is the natural response to the constant increase in parcel volume and the expansion of our regional teams. We aimed for more than just a larger space; we pursued operational efficiency, employee comfort, and an improved customer experience. The new facility in Drobeta-Turnu Severin reflects Cargus’s strategic direction: intelligent investments with a direct impact on service quality.”
Driving growth for businesses across key counties
This new logistics powerhouse serves businesses and customers across Mehedinți, Caraș-Severin, and Gorj counties. Parcels processed here will benefit from both home delivery and the extensive Cargus SHIP & GO network, which includes proprietary and partner locations.
This hub is the first of three planned depot relocations for Cargus in 2025, underscoring a strategy of accelerated growth tailored to increasing market demand. Such strategic investments in modern logistics infrastructure directly benefit businesses by providing faster, more reliable, and efficient distribution channels, crucial for competitive advantage in today's market.
