“The pouring of the asphalt that links the two pieces of highway was finalized on Thursday (June 11). Work is being currently done on the border crossing point’s offices, check points; works on the parking lot that can be used by 100 high-tonnage vehicles were finalized. The works are on schedule. But that does not guarantee the fact that the highway will open to traffic. Because there still are some aspects and intergovernmental agreements that have to be jointly agreed by the two sides, namely the Romanian and Hungarian states,” sources from among the constructors stated for ‘Ziua de Vest’ daily.

The National Highway Company announced that the link between the A1 Arad-Nadlac Highway and the M43 Highway will be completed after July 10.

On the other hand, works on the Pecica-Arad section will be completed in July, the constructor states.

Romania’s National Highway Company (CNADNR) stated however that only a section of the highway will open to traffic. The people of Arad will be able to use the high-speed road all the way to Hungary only after all intergovernmental agreements are ratified.

M43 is a highway currently under construction in Hungary, as an extension of the M5 Highway. Its first section was open to traffic in the spring of 2011, linking Szeged and Mako, with work continuing on the Mako-Nadlac section that links it up with the A1 Highway in Romania. (source: nineoclock.ro)
