The project should be completed by 2026, according to the European Commissioner for Transport, which will be the first highway to cross the Carpathian Mountains, ensuring connectivity in Romania on the Rhine-Danube corridor of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).

The Sibiu - Pitești highway will have a length of 122 kilometers and will be divided into five lots: Sibiu - Boița, Boița - Cornetu, Cornetu - Tigveni, Tigveni - Curtea de Argeș and Curtea de Argeș - Pitești and will include eight road junctions and nine tunnels. The total value of the investment amounts to 2.7 billion euros. (source:
